To replace a fuel tank, first relieve the fuel pressure. Then, disconnect the negative cable at the battery and ensure it is placed out of the way to prevent accidental contact with the battery terminal. Next, disconnect the harness connectors of the fuel tank gauge and electric fuel pump. Siphon or pump the fuel in the tank from the filler opening into a suitable container, cleaning up any spillage and using compressed air to clear away any fuel from around the filler opening. Remove the fuel filler neck ring. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the right rear wheel. Proceed to remove the fuel filler tube protectors and disconnect the ventilation hose. Disconnect the fuel hoses and evaporative hose on the fuel tube side. Loosen the bolt and nut securing mounting bands and then remove the fuel tank with the filler tube attached. Follow the removal procedure in reverse for installation.
