Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the upper intake manifold. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel rail. Disconnect the electrical connector from each fuel injector. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts, starting with the two bolts farthest away from the fuel inlet. Carefully lift the fuel rail from the engine with the injectors attached. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail, then remove and discard the 0-rings. To free each injector from the fuel rail, pull off the retainer with a pair of pliers then pull the injector straight out of its bore in the fuel rail. If necessary, remove the fuel pressure damper. Use a new 0-ring on installation. Replace both 0-rings of each fuel injector and lubricate them with clean engine oil prior to installation. Whether you're installing new injectors or reusing the old ones, always remove the old O-rings and replace them with new ones. Install the injector retaining clips and insert each injector into its bore in the fuel rail until the retaining clip snaps into place. To install an injector, align the slot in the clip with the tab on the fuel rail, then push the injector firmly into place until the clip snaps onto the ridge of the injector bore. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fuel rail mounting bolts starting with the two closest to the fuel inlet. Reconnect the battery and perform the necessary re-learn procedures.
