To replace various exhaust components in your vehicle, follow these steps. First, ensure the vehicle is safely lifted and supported on jackstands. For the front exhaust pipe, remove the lower catalytic converter shield and use wire to secure the converter underneath the car. Disconnect any brackets holding the pipe to the transmission or body. Loosen the two bolts connecting the front pipe to the catalytic converter. Remove the three bolts attaching the front pipe to the exhaust manifold. While supporting the front exhaust pipe, remove the two bolts holding it to the converter and lift it out. During installation, use new gaskets and apply anti-seize compound to the threads before installing the bolts.For the catalytic converter, secure the exhaust center tube to the driveshaft with wire. While supporting the converter, break loose the four mounting bolts but do not remove them. Remove the converter by taking out the four retaining bolts. During installation, use new gaskets and apply anti-seize compound to the threads before installing the bolts.For the exhaust center tube, remove the rear crossover bracket, heat shields, and U-bolt with the clamp. Tap around the connection to loosen it, then disconnect the center tube from the catalytic converter by removing the two retaining bolts. Twist and pull the center tube over the rear end housing to remove it. During installation, use new gaskets and apply anti-seize compound to the threads. Use Nissan exhaust sealant kit 20720-N2225 or an equivalent to prevent gas leakage from the center tube connection.For the muffler assembly, disconnect the U-bolt securing the exhaust center tube and remove the bracket retaining bolts securing the front and tailpipe of the muffler assembly to the body. Lower the muffler assembly from the vehicle, and during installation, use new gaskets, apply anti-seize compound to the threads, and use Nissan exhaust sealant kit 20720-N2225 or an equivalent to prevent gas leakage from the center tube connection.
