If the turbo is equipped with coolant lines it will be necessary to drain the cooling system. Then, lift the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. The front exhaust tube from the turbo should be removed, followed by the steering column lower joint. Next, remove the retaining bolts from the heat shields and remove the shields. The exhaust gas sensor electrical connector should be disconnected, as well as the oil delivery tube at the turbo. The oil drain pipe can be disconnected by loosening the rubber hose clamps and pulling the hose from the nipple. The inlet and outlet coolant delivery tubes from the turbo should also be disconnected. The four turbo retaining bolts securing the turbo to the exhaust manifold should be disconnected next. The turbo can then be removed out the bottom of the engine compartment. All traces of gasket and sealant material from the gasket mounting surfaces should be cleaned. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Note: Install a new gasket and replace the metal washers on the hollow bolts connecting the coolant and oil delivery lines.

The water jackets are connected to the engine cooling system.

Removal of the turbocharger will be necessary.

Therefore, it's essential to pay careful attention to the condition of the oil lines and the tightness of their fittings. It's also important not to overtighten the hollow bolts to prevent deformation of the unions and oil leakage.
