Nissan Xterra Car Batteries Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to accurately test a battery?
A: To test a battery, disconnect the cables and perform a state of charge test. Use a digital voltmeter for an open circuit voltage test and a battery load testing tool for a load test. To check for a constant drain, disconnect the negative cable and attach a test light. To replace, remove the hold-down clamp, lift out the battery, inspect the tray, and replace with a battery of the same specs. Installation is the reverse of removal.
