- Q: What steps should experienced do-it-yourselfers follow when removing the instrument cluster on 2019 Nissan Versa?A: This procedure is one of the most difficult for the home mechanics due to concealed screws, hard, sometimes almost invisible, access points and dozens of electrical connectors, all of which have to be marked and disconnected. However, it is suggested to be done only by those who have prior refinancing experience or can be called professionals in refinancing. While disconnecting instrument panel, it is recommended to document how each component is disconnected, where it is situated, and what kind of connectors are used, as far as the reconnection is considered. Start by Perlating the cable that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery. Subsequently unlock any chassis, take out the steering wheel, all the dashboard trims and the gloves box, air conditioning and heater control assembly, the instrument cluster and radio set, the front seats for better access, and the centre console. First, the right side A-pillar trim panel should be detached step by step with caution and then follows the removal of the right side air vent, then the passanger airbag. Pull off the cover at the top of the instrument panel and take off the upper mat. Carefully unscrew the fasteners which secure the instrument panel and then with the help of others this panel should be pulled out. Remove the front door opening sill panels, remove electrical connectors at the left kick panel area and all the air conditioning Systems electrical connectors at the glove box area. Remove all the connecting ends of wires from between the car and the area of the instrument panel brace. Label the connection of the upper steering column shaft to the lower shaft, loosen and take out the steering column pinch-bolt and then, disconnect the shafts, thrash the old pinch bolt and use a new one when putting back the parts. Take out the two screws from the hood release handle and set it aside, take out the instrument brace-to-floor fastener and left side instrument brace mountings. Disconnect remaining bolts and, with help of another person, take out the instrument panel brace from the car. Removal is done in reverse order to installation so that when fixinging the tethers one has to fix them once the A-pillar trim panels are reinstalled since the clips fixing them have to be sited properly.
