Shift into Drive or Neutral, then remove the shift lever handle, which is secured by a spring clip under the handle cover on automatic transaxle models. Pry off the center cluster lid and use a plastic trim tool or a screwdriver wrapped with tape to carefully remove the shifter trim panel, disconnecting the electrical connectors. Carefully pry out the console storage compartment, then remove the instrument panel end caps and the lower steering column trim panel. Disconnect the aspirator tube and wiring under the cover, and remove the side panels from the console to access the mounting screws. Remove the two screws from the front top and the two screws from the front sides of the console. Slide the seats fully forward to remove the screws from the rear of the console, then take out the console. Installation is the reverse of removal.
