You must take off the antenna mast and bezel on a Frontier/Xterra by turning off the screws connecting the mast to its base using a wrench. Start by removing the wiper arm for the right-hand side of the windshield, then pull out the grille and turn your attention to the splash shield on the inner fender. Once both are gone, disconnect the antenna's cable. Take the radio out from under the dashboard, disconnect its cable, then connect a rope to it. Unscrew the antenna base mount, pull the base out from the car body, and disconnect its cable. Feed the cable back through until you reach the other end. Join the pull wire at the new cable end, drawing it through until you reach the inside of the car. The steps needed to place the antenna are exactly the same as those used to take it out. For the power antenna, two people are required. Pull down the antenna's mast, loosen the retaining nut and bezel, then start the vehicle and turn on the radio to let the antenna mast and cable to retract from the motor as it spins, flipping the radio back off again afterward. Twist the antenna cable with the teeth toward the back, switch the radio to On, push the cable and mast through while the gear coils the wire, and click Off when the mast clears. Finally, install the retaining nut and bezel. To fix the antenna motor, first loosen the retaining nut and component cover. Then you can pull off the kick panel on the right side of your interior and disconnect the motor's power supply and cable from the electrical hub. Pull the connector and cable from the motor through the grommet in the body by removing the right-side inner fender splash guard. Once freed, take out the motor's screws and lift it out of the wheel well. Installation is the reverse of removal.
