All models feature a cable for operating the fuel door opener, while remote trunk operation may utilize a cable on some models or an electric solenoid on others. To access the Fuel Door Release Cable end, remove the left-side panel inside the trunk. With the fuel door open, push the cable from inside until its plastic end-housing emerges into the fuel door compartment, then pry the cable end out and slip the end-housing off the old cable. To access the release cable, peel back the carpeting and open all clips securing the cable to the body; some models may have an electric solenoid instead, but both types connect to the trunk release at the same point. Next, pull back the carpeting next to the driver's seat to reveal the release lever mechanism, remove the nut securing the "flag" tab on the cable(s), and swing the cable down to detach the cable eye from the lever. Remove the nut securing the cable end(s) to the stud and detach the cable eye(s) from the bottom of the lever. Attach a piece of thin wire to the end of the cable, then, while working in the trunk compartment, pull the cable assembly towards the rear of the vehicle until the wire is visible. Finally, attach the wire to the front of the new cable and fish it back through the body for attachment to the lever, completing the installation in reverse order of removal.
