The IVT solenoids are installed in the IVT covers, which are on the upper part of the timing chain cover. These solenoid valves direct oil to the intake camshaft actuators in order to vary the timing of the intake cam-shafts. They receive commands from the PCM. To remove them, first disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid. Then, remove the mounting bolt from the IVT solenoid, and finally remove the solenoid from the cover. When installing, the process is the reverse of removal. It is important to replace the O-ring with a new one.
