Turn the wiper ON then OFF to ensure the blades are in the proper park position. Mark the positions of the blades on the windshield with tape for alignment during reinstallation. Pry off the wiper arm pivot caps and remove the nuts. Detach the wiper arms from the drive studs by wiggling the ends up and down. For a windshield wiper, remove the upper cowl cover; for a liftgate window wiper, take off the interior hatch trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor and remove the mounting bolts to lift the wiper assembly out. Take off the linkage arm from the windshield wiper motor, being careful not to damage the plastic parts of the joints, then unbolt the motor from the frame and remove it. When installing the wiper motor assembly, connect the electrical connector to the motor, turn it ON and then OFF to place the unit in the PARK position before attaching the wiper arms, and ensure the pivot seal in the rear glass is in good condition before inserting the wiper shaft through it.
