Take away the middle console and disconnect the electrical wire for the parking brake warning light switch. Loosen the nut attaching the parking brake lever, and take off the bolts holding its base. After lifting the car, set it on jackstands, and leave it blocked by placing stands under the front wheels. Take off the two small nuts holding each end of the cable housing, then unlatch the rear cables from the equalizer by removing the securement bracket bolts, pushing the cables beyond each terminal, and letting go of their ends. From the inside of the car, push the cable and support bar from below the floorboard. Before starting, make sure to let go of the locking brake fully. Loosen the nuts holding each wheel's bolts in the back, lift the car towards the rear using jackstands, then place blocks under the front wheels to stabilize the vehicle. Take off the wheel, pull out both the brake shoes and drum, and disconnect the cable from the parking brake handles on the back shoe. Take off the cable retainer from the backing plate. Then, pull out the cable from its path, also removing any cable brackets underneath. Take off the housing nuts that sit right next to the equalizer, remove the cables. Putting the cable in place goes the opposite way, by putting a thin oil layer on two parts: where the part connecting to the equalizer fits and where the rear end of the cable touches the brake lever. Adjust the parking brake assembly when finished.
