In order to help the engine start effectively every time, preventive maintenance should be done on the car battery regularly. Have all necessary safety equipment before you begin any battery maintenance. As a precautionary measure, turn off the engine and all accessories and disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of your battery. Inspect a battery's exterior condition taking note of damage, corrosion, loose connections, fractures or loose hold-down clamps. In case there is any form of corrosion, carefully remove the battery by first unplugging its ground cable. Clean both the terminal posts and cable clamps with baking soda solution mixed with some water while wearing protective clothing. Confirm that your battery tray is in good shape; do not over tighten hold-down clamp bolts. In addition to other coatings available in stores for this purpose use zinc based primer paint instead as well as spray on it after rinsing everything and removing all corrosion using water mixed with baking soda to protect these metal parts against subsequent rusting. Refrain from utilizing high amperage chargers rated above 1/10th of their amp/hour rating or rapid boost chargers which are harmful to batteries.
