Remove the front section of the exhaust pipe nuts and take off the exhaust pipe, noting that on 2013 and earlier models or 2014 and later Rogue Select models, it may be necessary to remove the center section of the exhaust pipe. Next, remove the driveshaft and the right-side driveaxle. Then, take out the front subframe and support the transaxle with a floor jack, placing a piece of wood between the jack head and the transaxle to protect the aluminum housing, ensuring that the jack does not contact the drain plug. Remove the transfer case mounting bolts, making note of their locations since the bolts are different lengths and must be installed in their original positions, and then remove the transfer case. It is recommended to always replace the transaxle oil seal when the transfer case is removed. Installation is the reverse of removal, and check the transaxle lubricant and transfer case lubricant, adding if necessary to bring it to the proper level.
