The BCM acquires inputs from different switches and sensors and issued commands, usually in the form of multiplex voltage, to the parts. It cooperates with the IPDM or PCM and receives signals from the air conditioning system and forwards them to the ECM over CAN. The BCM manages many systems which comprise of combination switch system, signal buffer system, power consumption control system, auto light system, turn signal and hazard warning light system, headlight system, fog light system, daytime running lights system, interior illumination system, interior illumination battery saver system, windshield wiper/washer system, warning chime system, power door lock system, power window system, AC compressor clutch, Nissan Anti-Theft System (NATS), The CAN communication makes it possible for the BCM to carry out high rate two way conversation with other control systems through CAN-L and CAN-H lines each control unit is enabled to send and receive data while at the same time selectively reading data. The BCM is installed just behind the glove box and is secured beneath the instrumental panel on the driver's side, slightly to the right of the steering column. Diagnosis involves special equipment for removal and installation, and if replacement of the module is needed, programming with the same equipment is required for the module to work; therefore, it should be serviced at either a dealer or a qualified independent repair shop with the right tools.
