The sunroof is operated by a motor located in the roof behind the overhead console, with its power circuit protected by a
Fuse in the engine compartment power distribution center. An interior sliding panel can be closed when sunlight is not desired. The sunroof switch sends an operation signal to the motor CPU encoder when pressed, with power supplied from the
Body Control Module (BCM) under the instrument panel. The front door switch detects the open/close condition and signals the BCM, allowing the sunroof to retain power for 45 seconds after the key is turned off, which can be canceled by opening the front door, turning the
Ignition Switch to ON, or when the 45 seconds expire. With the ignition On but the engine Off, the sunroof control switch can be operated through tilt and slide functions, and the sound of the motor running should be audible. If the motor is heard but the glass does not move, there may be an issue with the drive mechanism. If there is no sound from the motor, checking the fuses in both the interior fuse panel and the engine compartment power distribution center is necessary. If voltage is present at the switch, it should be disconnected and checked for continuity in all operating positions; if continuity is absent, the switch needs replacement. If obvious causes are ruled out, a visit to a dealership service department or a properly equipped repair shop is recommended.
