To replace the air filter on a four-cylinder engine, remove the wing nuts, detach the clips and remove the air filter box cover and air filter element. Remove the nut from the mounting stud, disconnect the breather hose and remove the box base from the throttle body. On V6 engines, disconnect the electrical connector from the mass airflow sensor, loosen the retaining clamp securing the air intake duct to the mass airflow sensor, detach the vacuum hoses from the cover and position the hoses aside. If you're working on a 3.3L V6 model, detach the spring clips and remove the air filter cover and mass airflow sensor as an assembly. On models with a 3.5L V6 engine the filter element rides in a removable carrier, which can be left in place if desired. Remove the air filter box mounting bolts and remove it from the engine compartment. If necessary, disconnect the crankcase breather hose from the air intake duct, detach the duct from the throttle body and remove the air intake duct. Installation is the reverse of removal.
