Q:
How to remove, install, and ensure the proper function of the release cylinder in a Nissan Pathfinder's hydraulic system? Posted by Customer
A:
Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, unscrew the fluid hose banjo fitting bolt (there is a sealing washer on either side of the brake hose inlet fitting; be sure to replace these with new ones when reconnecting the hose. Have rags handy, as some fluid will be lost as the line is removed. Don't allow fluid to come into contact with the paint - it will damage the finish. Also have a plug ready and immediately plug the line to prevent leakage and fluid contamination. Unscrew the two clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts and detach the clutch slave cylinder. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the push rod dust boot is in good condition and the push rod is seated correctly in its pocket in the release lever. Tighten the clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts to the torque, fill the clutch fluid reservoir with the recommended fluid, bleed the clutch hydraulic system and lower the vehicle and check for proper operation.
