    Q:
How to remove the air cleaner assembly, air duct, and air filter box on the Nissan Juke with a Diesel engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before disassembling the Air Filter Box of Type 1 engines, what is needed is to disconnect the battery and then the inlet and outlet air ducts. Remove the wiring connector from the mass airflow sensor and loosen up the wiring loom nipple screw on the Air Filter Box. Roll the Air Filter Box forward and pull to detach the mounting rubbers then raise it out of the engine bay. As for Type 2 engines, unscrew the Air Filter Box filter element, turn the mass airflow sensor connector, and free the wiring loom clips. Loosen the retaining clip and disconnect the outlet air duct from the Air Filter Box under consideration; then, release the Air Filter Box retaining bolt. Lift the Air Filter Box up to release the lower locating pegs and slide it out of the engine compartment. Refitting is the reverse of the procedures of removal, which will require proper reattachment of all hoses and ensure that ducts are firmly fixed. Disable the inlet air duct of Type 1 engine; remove the hose support cable tie, withdraw the plastic expanding rivets and disconnect the inlet air duct from the Air Filter Box. To remove the outlet air duct, take out the fuel system priming bulb that clips on the bracket and unbolt it then take off the bracket. Loosen the clips that hold the outlet air duct and mass airflow sensor to the turbocharger inlet pipe, then take off the duct. For the removal of the turbocharger inlet pipe, the outlet air duct must be detached and the crankcase ventilation hose must also be disconnected and pulled off from the vacuum hose and the front part of the car should be raised and then the bolts that are connecting the inlet pipe of the turbocharger have to be loosened. You will need to raise the inlet pipe off the engine once the upper retaining nut has been removed. To take out the intercooler inlet pipe, it is necessary to start by taking out the inlet air duct and the turbocharger inlet pipe, next loosen the clip and the bolt of the support bracket. Remove the 'U' shaped clip of wire by pulling it off after 'fastron' of jumper has been lifted on the intercooler inlet pipe end of the turbocharger. For the intercooler outlet pipe, first, disconnect the wiring connector connecting to charge air pressure sensor, then pull out the wire spring clip that secures a small part of the outlet pipe to the throttle housing, and finally, unscrew the retaining clip to release the outlet pipe connected to the hose and that part of the intercooler. For Type 2 engines, fully open the retaining tab to unlock the upper inlet air duct from the Air Filter Box housing and then pull off the lower inlet air duct after the removal of the upper duct and the front wheel arch liner. Release the retaining bolts and pull the duct off. To make this, initially, unscrew the retaining clip on the outlet air duct and then pull it out from the Air Filter Box and finally it can be pulled out from the turbocharger. To carry out the procedure on the air inlet hose, one has to alleviate the fuel hoses, loosen the nut that fastens the hose to the support bracket and then release wire clips to detach the hose. To take out this air inlet tube, other procedures include loosening of retaining bolts, shifting the coolant expansion tank to one side and a little backward, slackening of the fuel hoses that are around the tube, or unscrewing the nut that fixes the tube to the support bracket and removing the wire clips holding the tube in place to completely detach the tube. Refitting is performed in a way that inversely to the removal steps, tightening all coupling joints are tightened.
