Q:
How to test and replace a fuel level sending unit assembly in a Nissan Frontier's fuel tank? Posted by Customer
A:
Connect an ohmmeter to the indicated terminals (marked with an X) of the fuel level sensor connector and check the resistance of the sensor with the float positioned down (empty), then move the float up (full) and note the resistance - check for a smooth change in resistance as the float is moved. If the fuel level sensor resistance is incorrect or if the resistance does not change smoothly as the float travels from empty to full, the fuel level sensor assembly is defective. Remove the fuel pump from the sensor assembly and install it onto the new unit, then install the assembly into the fuel tank with a new O-ring. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
