Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Apply the parking brake and remove the front wheels along with the engine splash shields. Place a drain pan under the Rack And Pinion, detach the power steering pressure and return lines, and cap the ends to prevent excessive fluid loss and contamination. Remove the master cylinder reservoir mounting screws and position the reservoir off to the side without disconnecting the brake hoses, using wire to support it. Remove the front stabilizer bar and separate the tie-rod ends from the steering knuckle arms. From inside the vehicle, remove the universal joint cover by taking out the U-joint cover nuts, slide the boot up for clearance, and remove the pinch bolt from the upper section of the steering shaft. Support the Rack And Pinion and remove the Rack And Pinion mounting bolts, lower the Rack And Pinion slightly, and remove the intermediate shaft-to-Rack And Pinion pinch bolt, separating the intermediate shaft from the Rack And Pinion input shaft to pull the Rack And Pinion assembly out towards the driver's side. Check the Rack And Pinion rubber mounts for excessive wear or deterioration, replacing them if necessary. Before installing, ensure the Rack And Pinion is centered from side-to-side, then slide it into position from the driver's side, connect the intermediate shaft to the Rack And Pinion, and install and tighten the pinch bolt. Raise the Rack And Pinion into position and connect the upper section of the intermediate shaft onto the steering column. Install the mounting brackets and bolts, ensuring the UP mark on the brackets is correctly positioned, then tighten all bolts snugly at first before following the recommended tightening sequence to achieve the proper torque. Connect the tie-rod ends to the steering knuckle arms, install the intermediate shaft-to-steering column pinch bolt, and tighten it to the torque. Connect the power steering pressure and return hoses to the Rack And Pinion, filling the power steering pump reservoir with the recommended fluid. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, tighten the lug nuts to the torque, and bleed the steering system.
