- A:Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Insert a large screwdriver or pry bar into the space between the transmission extension housing and the cross member and try to pry the transmission up slightly; it should move very little. Support the transmission with a floor jack, place a block of wood on the jack head to act as a cushion, remove the bolts and nuts attaching the mount to the cross member and transmission, raise the transmission slightly with the jack and remove the mount.
