    Q:
How to properly remove and install the Trailing Arm of a Nissan Murano? Posted by Customer
    A:
Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Remove the coil spring, then take out the lower arm-to-frame mounting bolt/nut and the arm-to-knuckle bolt to detach the lower rear suspension arm from the vehicle. For installation, raise the lower suspension arm with a floor jack to normal ride height and tighten the suspension arm bolts/nuts to the specified torque, ensuring the marks on the adjusting cam and subframe align. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque. Support the rear lower suspension arm with a floor jack under the coil spring pocket, mark the adjusting cam's relationship to the subframe, and remove the lower front suspension arm-to-subframe and arm-to-knuckle mounting bolts/nuts before taking out the arm. For installation, raise the rear lower suspension arm to normal ride height and tighten the front lower suspension arm bolts/nuts, aligning the marks on the adjusting cam and subframe, followed by tightening the wheel lug nuts. For 2WD models, detach the wheel speed sensor wiring harness and stabilizer bar link from the upper suspension arm, separate the balljoint from the knuckle, and remove the suspension arm pivot bolts before taking out the arm. For AWD models, the upper suspension arm must be removed with the rear suspension subframe. Remove the brake calipers without disconnecting the hoses, hang them out of the way, and then remove the rear portion of the exhaust system, rear wheel speed sensors, wiring harnesses, and rear stabilizer bar. On AWD models, remove the rear differential, disconnect the parking brake cables, and remove the rear lower suspension arms and coil springs. Unbolt the lower ends of the shock absorbers from the front lower suspension arms, support the rear suspension subframe with two floor jacks, and remove the subframe front corner braces and remaining subframe-to-chassis braces before carefully lowering the jack until the subframe and attached suspension components are clear of the body. The suspension arms can now be removed if necessary. For installation, tighten the balljoint stud nut and install a new cotter pin, raise the lower suspension arm to normal ride height and tighten the pivot bolt nuts, and ensure all fasteners, including brake fasteners and wheel lug nuts, are tightened to the specified torque.
