Position the drain pan under the oil filter, loosen it counterclockwise with a filter wrench, and tilt it to prevent spills as you detach it. Clean the oil filter mounting surface, ensuring no old gasket remains, and compare the old filter with the new one. Lubricate the new filter's gasket with engine oil and install it by hand, tightening it without a wrench.

Park the vehicle on a level surface, start the engine to reach normal operating temperature, and then turn it off. Raise the vehicle securely on jackstands.

Dispose of the old oil properly, as it cannot be reused. Check with local facilities for recycling options and transport it in a suitable container after it has cooled.
