    Q:
How to remove and install the rear brake disc and other brake components on Nissan 240sx? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove and install the brake components, first, the rear of the vehicle should be raised and supported safely and afterward the wheels should be taken off. Subsequently, remove the brake caliper assembly and at this point the brake hose should not be twisted. Following that, it is recommended to pull out the brake disc from the respective car. For installation, it's done in the same way as the removal process, though in the reverse manner. When inspecting the brake rotor, one should look for roughness, cracks or any chip in the rotor. Most auto parts stores machine rotors, which should be machined or changed any time a rear disc pad is replaced.

    Q:
How to remove and install the front brake disc and other parts of a Nissan 240sx? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the parts for 200SX and 240SX models equipped with the rear-wheel drive system, first securely lift and support the front part of the vehicle and then, take off the wheels. Secondly, remove the brake caliper assembly and depending on vehicle, the wheel hub and bearing assembly while observing that the brake hose should not be twisted. To disassemble, take off the brake disc/wheel hub from the car; for assembly, do the reversal of the above steps, and if necessary, center the bearings. For examination, rubbing should feel rough, having visible cracks or chips and it should be noted that rotors should be machined or replaced every time front disc brake pads are changed. For models with front-wheel drive Stanza as well as Stanza Wagon, be careful as brake shoes possess asbestos, which is known to be carcinogenic; do not clean using compressed air but instead use brake cleaning fluid. For early type rotor/disc assembly, the removal of the caliper, cylinder body, and torque member from the steering knuckle without removing the brake tube, where applicable must be done followed by supporting of the part. But before the setting up of the actual drive shaft, take off the grease cap, cotter pin, adjusting cap, wheel bearing locknut, and the thrust washer from the drive shaft. There are specific wheel hub remover tools for pushing the wheel hub/disc assembly off the steering knuckle, after which the disc-to-wheel hub bolts must be unscrewed to allow the two elements to unscrew. After that, you have to assemble the wheel hub/disc assembly back into the vehicle, tightening the bolts to the prescribed torque and following the service procedures, and reinstall the caliper assembly together with all governing components, if applicable, including bleeding the brake fluids. For later type rotor/disc assembly unit, firstly, safely elevate the vehicle, then, take off the caliper assembly and follow by the removal of the rotor/disc assembly and the installation procedure would be in the opposite manner. Roughness, cracks, or chips on the brake rotor should always be noticed and one should always understand that machining or replacement of the rotor is needed during every front disc brake pad replacement.
