    Q:
What is the purpose and location of the MAP sensor and solenoid valve in Nissan Maxima? Posted by Customer
    A:
Models manufactured from 1996 onwards use the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor as an intake manifold pressure and ambient barometric changes detector. In addition, for models of 1996-1999 there is also a solenoid in combination with the MAP sensor while from 2000 up to date they are not used. For example, on the 2004 models of this vehicle, the MAP sensor is part of the PCM and cannot be replaced independently. The purpose of using this MAP sensor signal by the PCM is diagnostic. At close throttle this voltage output signal from MAP sensor reads about 0.5 volts, whereas it can reach up to approximately as wide open throttle about 5.0 volts respectively. Furthermore, these are located at the back of left-bank cylinder head-MAP SENSOR AND SOLENOID VALVE.The next step is to attach a vacuum gauge after disconnecting the vacuum hose to check your MAP sensor. Once it does, go ahead with the checking of your MAP sensors. To test for voltage from PCM disconnect electrical connector and check specified voltage.Remove solenoid valve and check for battery voltage by disconnecting electrical connector. It's easy to test if you have removed it from vehicle only that you will have removed it too.You can replace both battery cable and electrical connector but not vacuum hose(s) when replacing MAP sensor or/and a solenoid valve.Sensor or valve as well as mounting screws should be separated.Charles was told to replace what he had removed surrounding it.

    Q:
How to remove and install the Canister Purge Valve, Vapor Canister, and Vapor Pressure Sensor on the Nissan Rogue? Posted by Customer
    A:
From the valve, unhook the pipes that are connected to the electrical connector and the purge control solenoid. Covering a variety of mounting bolts, cut off the valve from intake manifold. Fitment is accomplished in reverse order of removal. The EVAP canister is found beneath the vehicle near right rear wheel. Raise car backside and secure it onto jackstands. Disconnect control pressure sensor and vent control valve electrical connectors. Separate canister purge hose from canister. Take out fuel tank EVAP breather hose and vent control valve pipe. Remove retainer bolt for canister as well as EVAP canister itself. Fitment is accomplished in reverse order of removal. There is no need to remove EVAP canister when removing its vent control valve or EVAP canister system pressure sensor. Remove the shield so as to gain access to the evaporative emission canister where it lies under splash guard on top of rear differential assembly. Pull up on pressure sensor until it disengages from its mounting position inside vacuum chamber below fuel tank, which will cause O-ring to pop off too if using excessive force during this operation; otherwise simply lift straight up slowly without any twisting motion applied so as not overstretch gasket material around edges (replace with new one after inspection). Rotate vent control valve anti-clockwise in order release it out of this charcoal filter container by turning handle counterclockwise until fully unscrewed out from cannister wall; then withdraw completely backwards making sure there are no obstructions left behind like dust bunnies along its path towards exit hole situated at bottommost part connecting route between gas tank vents (check if necessary replace). Fitment is accomplished in reverse order of removal.

    Q:
How to replace the Canister Purge Valve, Vapor Canister, and Vapor Pressure Sensor on the Nissan Sentra? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the purge control solenoid valve one has to first loosen the bolts and remove the engine cover, then disconnect the hoses from the valve, which consists of electrical connector, two hoses, two mounting nuts. After that, unbend the electrical connector and unscrew the mounting nuts to demount the valve from the bracket and mounting while the procedure of mounting inverses the process. For a canister that is situated under the vehicle, near the right rear wheel, you need to lift the car and place it on secure jackstands. First, the EVAP canister protector has to be taken off by unscrewing the shield fasteners Next all the connectors have to be disconnected including electrical connectors of the control pressure sensor and the vent control valve, the canister purge hose, the fuel tank EVAP breather hose, and the vent control valve hose have to be removed. Take out the canister retaining bolts and then take out the EVAP canister; to install simply reverse the process. The pressure sensor which is part of the EVAP control system is connected to the canister with its base; to release it, the individual merely has to pull out the whole sensor whereas the vent control valve is loosened by turning the valve counter clockwise and then pulled out. Clean the O-ring in acetone if needed, and look for splits or damage; replace in needed because installation is the opposite procedure of removal.
