Take care not to allow dirt into the fuel pipes during this procedure; clean around the area before commencing work. All high-pressure pipes removed must be renewed as a matter of course. Begin by carrying out the necessary operations, then disconnect the wiring connectors from the heater plugs and move the wiring loom aside. Undo the union nuts and remove the high-pressure fuel pipe from the fuel pump to the fuel rail, wrapping the pipes loosely in cloth to manage any remaining pressure. Discard the fuel pipe, as a new one will be required for refitting, and plug all fuel apertures to prevent dust and dirt entry. While holding the injector central unions with one spanner, unscrew the high-pressure pipe union nuts with another spanner, then similarly unscrew the union nuts from the fuel rail and remove the pipes, discarding them as new ones will be needed. Undo the retaining nuts to remove the fuel rail from the front of the cylinder head. For refitting, reverse the removal process, ensuring the new high-pressure pipe is not placed under stress. Before fitting, lubricate the threads of the union nuts with oil from the provided sachet and finger-tighten the nuts before tightening them to the specified torque using a crow foot adaptor. When tightening the pipe union nuts onto the injectors, counter-hold the injectors with another spanner. Upon completion, prime and bleed the fuel system, run the engine, and check for fuel leaks.
