    Q:
How to check and adjust the drive belt condition and tension on the Nissan Juke? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check the drivebelt condition, firmly apply the handbrake, jack up the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on axle stands before removing the right-hand front roadwheel and the wheel arch liner on that side. Using a suitable socket and extension bar on the crankshaft pulley bolt, rotate the crankshaft to examine the entire length of the drivebelts for cracks, splitting, fraying, damage, glazing, and separation of the belt plies, renewing the belt if worn or damaged. If the belt is satisfactory, check the drivebelt tension. For 1.2 litre engines, release the tension on the belt by turning the tensioner clockwise with a 16 mm spanner or socket, hold the tensioner in the released position, slip the belt off the pulleys, and mark the direction of rotation if reusing the belt. To refit, place the belt around the pulleys, turn the tensioner clockwise again, slip the belt over the tensioner roller, and carefully release the pressure to allow the tensioner to move anti-clockwise, automatically tensioning the belt. Refit the wheel arch liner, roadwheel, and lower the vehicle, tightening the road wheels to the specified torque setting. For 1.6 litre engines, slacken the nut securing the tensioner pulley by a quarter turn, rotate the adjuster bolt to slacken the tensioner pulley until there is enough slack to remove the drivebelt, marking the direction of rotation if reusing the belt. To refit, place the belt around the pulleys and take up the slack by tightening the adjuster bolt, ensuring the belt is the correct type and length. Check the belt tension at the mid-point between the pulleys on the lower belt run, applying the specified force to ensure deflection is within the specified range. Adjust the tension by rotating the adjuster bolt until correct tension is achieved, ensuring the nut securing the tensioner pulley is tightened to the specified torque setting to prevent twisting. After correctly tensioning the belt, rotate the crankshaft a couple of times and recheck the tension, then tighten the tensioner pulley retaining nut to its specified torque setting. Finally, refit the wheel arch liner and roadwheel, lowering the vehicle and tightening the roadwheel nuts to the specified torque setting.

    Q:
What should be done after fitting the new belt for the 2015 Nissan Juke? Posted by Customer
    A:
Rotate the engine several times to check the belt alignment, then reattach the wheel arch liner and roadwheel, lowering the vehicle and tightening the roadwheel nuts to the specified torque.
