Before replacing the parking brake cables you should first spin the lug nuts on the rear wheels, jack up the vehicle and then support on jack stands and then remove the rear wheels. Then, it is required to unbolt the lower trim panel that is concealing the parking brake pedal and further it is necessary to unscrew the adjusting nut of the cable at the end of the pedal, having used the pliers for disconnecting cable from the pedal bracket. As needed, disconnect the pedal assembly and disconnect the cable from the assembly; Likewise, unhook the console also. Release the front cable from the rear cables that is situated under the console at the equalizer, and unbolt the front cable retainers. For the rear cables, lift the vehicle and free the front cable from the rear ones by disconnecting at the center console. Take off the heat shield and the center exhaust pipe as well as the parking brake shoes; then, disconnect the cables of the parking brake from the toggle levers. Remove the rear cable mounting bolts from the rear knuckles. In general, prepare the tools for the lever-type systems similar to the previous case, remove the center console, disconnect the wiring of the parking brake switch, and separate the cables from the equalizer. As to the installation, it is in the same manner as the removal process, remember to centralize the parking brakes.

1. Remove the center console and unplug the electrical connector for the parking brake warning light switch. 2. Detach the cable from the lever and remove the adjusting nut. 3. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely. 4. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield and disengage the rear cables from the equalizer. 5. Inside the vehicle, remove the cable retaining plate bolts and pull the cable and equalizer through the floor pan.
