In cases where replacement is done, generally because the calipers are leaking fluids, it is advised that the calipers be replaced rather than rebuilt. Fresh and factory rebuilt units are available on exchange hence this job is relatively easy. It is important when replacing the instrument to do it in pairs that is calipers of the same set should not be replaced one at a time. First, unscrew the front or rear wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle and set it on jackstands and, also put some wedges under the other end of the wheel. Thirdly, take out brake hose banjo bolt and separate the brake hose from the caliper fixing; dump the sealing washers and plug the brake hose to avoid more contaminants and control the loss of brake fluid. If only it is needed to remove the caliper for access to the other parts, never unplug the hose. Next to do that take out the caliper mounting bolts and unbolt the caliper from the bracket you are done. The installation process should be conducted by reversing the removal procedures, thus tightening the caliper mounting bolt and wheel lug nuts/caliper mounts and new sealing washers should be used on the brake hose-to-caliper banjo bolt. Last of all, bleed the brake system, and look for any leaks originating from hose connections and test the brakes cautiously before normal operation of the vehicle .
