Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. Drain the cooling system. If the coolant is relatively new, or is in good condition, save it and re-use it. On 2013 and earlier/2014 and later Rogue Select models, remove the drivebelt tensioner. Remove the alternator. Remove the water pump bolts and separate the pump from the pump housing. If the pump is stuck, gently tap it with a soft faced hammer to break the gasket seal. Be prepared for coolant spillage and avoid hitting or bumping the impeller against other parts during this procedure. Remove all old gasket material and clean the mating surfaces on the water pump and engine block. Inspect the pump. Replace the unit if there is dirt or debris on the water pump impeller, the impeller turns smoothly by hand, the shaft is not loose, or the shaft has excessive play. Tighten the pump-to-housing bolts to the torque values. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system. Reconnect the battery and perform the necessary re-learn procedures. Start the engine and check for any leaks. Re-check coolant fluid levels and add if necessary.
