2015 Nissan Juke Drive Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the drive shaft on the 2015 Nissan Juke?
A: To begin, apply the hand-brake first, then make sure that the front part of the vehicle at is jacked up and placed on axle stands. After removing relevant roadwheels and draining the transmission oil if necessary, discard the split pin and nut retainer from its outer end, remove the driveshaft retaining nut. The track rod end should be disconnected from the hub carrier, anti-roll bar drop link from suspension strut and lower arm balljoint from hub carrier should be disconnected. To free the balljoint, take care not to damage it by moving aside the hub carrier without damaging its rubber boot. When required hit on the driveshaft to knock it loose from there. Carefully pull outwards the hub carrier and withdraw its outer end from inside of the hub, taking due care with any ABS wheel speed sensor wiring if applicable. For left-hand driveshaft lever out inner joint body from within transmission using a suitable lever. Undo support bearing retaining plate on right-hand driveshaft and tap out inner joint; a bearing housing is removed thereafter. If necessary, insert dummy shaft into gearbox. Before refitting examine driveshaft oil seal for damage; consider replacing it as well. Clean oil seal lips as well as driveshaft splines with grease applied to them too thus ensuring all driveshafts gaiter clips are secure and renew inner end circlip. Take note that you must carefully put inner end of driveshaft into gearbox so that you do not destroy oil seal in question while doing so. Push inwardly till circlip engages positively into transmission inner joint body after which grease must be applied on outer joint splines of drive-shaft then engage outer end with hub finally fit new drive-shaft nut without fully tightening it yet. Reconnect lower balljoint and clamp bolt and new nut should be applied to secure it thereby tightening within specified torque limitings On right-hand driveshafts ensure support bearing is retained back in place with retaining plate placed properly. Reconnect anti-roll bar drop link ball joint, track rod end and ABS wheel speed sensor if it has been removed. Hold front hub stationary and tighten driveshaft nut to specified torque after that secure nut with new split-pin. Finally, refit roadwheel(s), lower vehicle and top up transmission oil.
