To remove and install the transaxle pan, first raise and support the vehicle on jackstands, then place a container under the transaxle to catch the oil when the pan is removed. Next, remove the transaxle pan bolts, and if the pan sticks, gently bump it with a soft hammer to break it loose. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces using a putty knife. For installation, use a new gasket and sealant, then reverse the removal process, ensuring to torque the oil pan bolts evenly to 3.6-5.1 ft. lbs. and refill the transaxle. Regarding filter service, the oil strainer typically does not need replacement under normal operation; changing the transaxle fluid suffices for maintenance. Begin by removing the oil pan, then take out the oil strainer plate bolts from the control valve body assembly to remove the oil strainer, noting that on some later models, disassembly of the transaxle assembly may be necessary to access the strainer. For installation, follow the reverse of the removal process, tightening the oil strainer retaining screws evenly and replacing any gasket for the strainer mounting.
