Disconnect the negative cable at the battery and place it out of the way to prevent accidental contact with the negative terminal. Carefully pry the center finish piece from the steering wheel, noting that it is fastened at the top and on each side by pop-out type fasteners. Use a dab of paint or a suitable marker to mark the relationship of the steering wheel to the column shaft for proper reinstallation. Remove the steering wheel nut and washer, then install a steering wheel puller and turn the forcing bolt to pull the steering wheel from the shaft. If necessary, remove the horn switch assembly by taking out the screws and disconnecting the electrical connector, keeping in mind that springs are located under the assembly on each of the screws. Align the marks and slide the steering wheel onto the shaft, then install the retaining washer and nut, tightening the nut to the specified torque. Align the horn pad and press it onto the steering wheel before reconnecting the battery negative cable.
