The Elm, or electronic body control module is situated at the rear of the glovebox on the left, behind the facia panel. Start by loosening the knee level of the battery negative terminal followed by pulling out the glovebox. After that, remove the wiring harness retaining clip and detach the BCM mounting screws, which allows to pull the unit and separate the wiring connectors. Refitting happens in the reverse order with the distinction that all defective equipment is replaced. Unfortunately, the
Door Lock motor is part of the door lock assembly hence; the lock assembly needs to be removed and refitted. For the
Tailgate Lock motor, removal and refitting of the tailgate lock incorporated the removal of the motor. To repair the door switches, one has to: remove the negative terminal of a car battery; unscrew the given switch; take out the switch from the respective door pillar. Pull off the wiring connector and pull out the switch; to install a new switch, the process is the reverse of this one. For replacement of the batteries in the remote control, if available unscrew the small screw attaching the front and back of the transmitter and using a small screwdriver, two pieces of the transmitter can be separated. Detach the battery from the fixed position in the case of the transmitter housing, and noticing the fitted position of the battery, refit the new battery at the correct polarity as maintained by the transmitter housing before clamping it back.
