Nissan Maxima Car Batteries

Nissan Maxima Car Batteries provide the stored electricity needed to crank the engine, operate the ignition and fuel injection components, power components when the engine is off, and power the clock and other memory circuits while the vehicle is parked. These Car Batteries are lead-acid type, 12 volts with six cells made to deliver bursts of high current for starting and steady voltage for electronics. Flooded lead-acid types use a liquid electrolyte to surround lead dioxide and sponge lead plates and require refilling with water every so often. Maintenance-free flooded types and absorbed glass mat types are sealed to limit fluid loss. The fitment of Car Batteries is determined by the BCI group number. Their terminals may be top, or side. The Cold Cranking Amps rating refers to the current drawn at a temperature of 0°F at which the Car Batteries will crank for 30 seconds. The reserve capacity rating indicates the length of time a fully charged battery will supply a steady 25 amps before voltage falls. In cold areas, Nissan owners go for a higher CCA value. Ample reserve capacity supports Maxima electrical load when charging output is low. The Nissan Maxima Car Batteries help to keep the electronics stable by providing extra current in situations when the demand on the charging system exceeds it.

Nissan Maxima Car Batteries Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to disconnect and replace the car batteries on a Nissan Maxima?
    A:
Anytime the battery is disconnected, stored operating parameters may be lost from the PCM causing the engine to run rough for sometime while the PCM relearns the information. A battery cannot be accurately tested until it is at or near a fully charged state. Disconnect the negative Battery Cable, then the positive cable from the battery and perform the following tests: Battery state of charge test, Open voltage circuit test, Battery load test, and Battery drain test. If you are replacing the battery, make sure you replace it with a battery with the identical dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc. Always disconnect the negative cable first and hook it up last or the battery may be shorted by the tool being used to loosen the cable clamps. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then the positive cable from the battery. Remove the battery hold-down clamp. Lift out the battery. Be careful - it's heavy. While the battery is out, inspect the battery tray for corrosion. If corrosion exists on the battery tray, detach the bolts and remove the tray from the engine compartment. Clean the deposits from the metal underneath the tray to prevent further corrosion. Installation is the reverse of removal.
