Inside the house on the left (driver's) aspect of the engine compartment is an air filter. To remove the air filter, free the spring clips holding together two halves of cleaner body and lift up to take off the cover and take out element of air filter. Release the fasteners and pull off the cover from inside from outside while raising it; then slide it out completely from its sheath. Examine, in particular, the external side of a filtering component. Substitution is necessary if it is dirty or unclean. However, if it appears slightly dirty, you can retain it by blowing it backward to front face with compressed air. It cannot be washed or oiled because it entails a pleated paper type of a filter. If you are unable to achieve this with compressed air, discard as well as replace it. Nevertheless, while removing never drop anything into housing. Do not drive vehicle without cleaner installed in place. Over time this may cause serious damage to your engine and even back-firing could result in fire under hood. Clean dry cloth need to be used for cleaning out interior part of cleaner housing when changing filters.
