Many models have a canister filter that is clip mounted on the firewall below the brake fluid reservoir. Some models have it underneath the vehicle and held with a clamp. Fuel system must be depressurized first, and then the cable has to be disconnected from the battery negative terminal. Detach filter from bracket, loosen screw clamps, detach hoses from top and bottom of fuel filter, and remove filter . A majority of models mount fuel filters in clips on the firewall - just pull them off to gain access to fuel lines. If located beneath vehicle, separate hoses from the filter and then loosen nuts to remove filter from bracket (pay attention to direction of installation). The filter orients itself naturally with inlet and outlet pipes ending at opposite sides which are clearly labeled. Make sure that you install your new filter correctly so that it faces in right direction. On firewall mounted filters, when installed correctly, there should be outlet pipe facing up and inlet pipe facing down. For filters mounted under the car, the outlet pipe should face forward while the inlet pipe should point towards rear of vehicle. It is a complete opposite for installation. Securely tighten screw clamps as well as install inlet and outlet fittings again. Connect battery cable; start engine & check for oil leaks.
