Where is the Coolant Temperature Sensor located and how to remove and reinstall on Nissan Sentra?

ECT sensor is to be fitted on a water outlet which is present where the upper side of the radiator hose is attached to the engine and the position of the sensor on the engine is left side. Firstly, it is recommended to have the engine cover and the air intake duct removed. Due to the high rate possibility of the splashing of the engine coolant, then drain some of the engine coolant. Then, release the connector from the ECT sensor harness and unthread the sensor from the engine; throw away the sealing washer since it needs to be replaced after that. Last of all, installation is done in opposite with the removal directions and probably the cooling system of the computer needs to be refilled.

Nissan Sentra Coolant Temperature Sensor

The Nissan Sentra Coolant Temperature Sensor monitors engine coolant heat and sends a voltage signal to the engine control module. This ensures the parameters for fuel delivery, ignition timing, idle speed, and cooling fan activation match real-time temperature. The Coolant Temperature Sensor is threaded into the coolant passage so that it contacts the coolant. This allows the internal NTC thermistor to change the electrical resistance of the sensor as the temperature of the coolant becomes warmer or cooler. The engine control module is constantly supplying a five-volt reference. The resistance value of the Coolant Temperature Sensor changes with temperature. This effect lowers the return voltage. The module interprets the value and converts it into a temperature. Feeding this input, the module enriches fuel when starting, adjusts injector pulse width as the engine warms, raises engine idle speed, drives the electric fan, and enables EGR, purge control, and torque converter clutch once warm. The Coolant Temperature Sensor on Nissan vehicles works through relays to control high current components and gives a temperature-based control to the Nissan Sentra drivetrain. Within the Nissan powertrain network, the Sentra depends on the Coolant Temperature Sensor for ideal management of combustion.
