Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Block the rear wheels and set the parking brake. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the right front wheel. Remove the engine splash shields and the right inner fender splash shield, followed by the drivebelt. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor and remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold, noting that applying penetrating oil to the fasteners may facilitate removal. Remove the exhaust manifold brace and then the exhaust manifold-to-
Cylinder Head nuts in the reverse order of the tightening sequence to detach the manifold and gasket. For installation, use a scraper to eliminate all traces of old gasket material and carbon deposits from the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head. Position the new exhaust manifold gasket over the cylinder head studs, install the manifold, and thread the mounting nuts into place. Tighten the nuts to the specified torque in the correct sequence. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal, using anti-seize lubricant on the exhaust pipe studs. Finally, reconnect the battery and perform the necessary re-learn procedures.
