To remove the tie-rod end from the
Steering Knuckle, first remove the cotter pin and then unscrew the inner tie-rod-to-relay rod nut. Use a puller or picklefork-type balljoint separator to free the ballstud from the relay rod. Take off the nut and detach the tie-rod from the relay rod. When installing tighten nut to torque specification and use new cotter pin. Raise car up and secure it with jackstand. Remove at inner ends of tie-rods from relay rod. Detach relay rod from Pitman arm and also idler arm. Installation is done in reverse order of removal process. Loosen right front wheel lug nuts and raise vehicle. Loosen but do not remove idler arm-to-relay rod nut. Use a two jaw puller or picklefork-type balljoint separator to separate idler arm from relay rod, remove nut and idler arm-to-frame nuts and bolts, position idler arm on frame, install bolts and nuts, connect relay rod to idler arm ballstud and install nut.RAISE CAR UP AND SECURE IT WITH JACKSTANDS.Remove cotter pin; loosen nut; detach relay rod from Pitman arm; remove Pitman arm nut and washer; use either pitman Arm Puller or Two Jaw Puller to take off Pitman Arm.INSTALLATION is the REVERSE OF REMOVAL.Ensure that marks on pitman arm already correspond with those on steering gear shaft.Tighten the nut to torque specification using a brand new cotter pin.
