Loosen the lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Next, remove the tie-rod end and jam nut. Take off the outer rack and pinion boot clamp by pinching the ends together with a pair of pliers, and cut off the inner boot clamp using diagonal cutters, then slide the boot off. Before installing the new boot, wrap the threads on the end of the inner tie-rod with tape to prevent cutting the small end of the new boot. Slide the new boot into position on the rack and pinion until it seats in the groove on the inner tie-rod and install new clamps. Remove the tape and install the tie-rod end. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
