After removing and installing the throttle body, it is important to perform the throttle valve closed position relearn procedure and, if necessary, the idle air volume relearn procedure. To begin, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and remove the air intake duct. Disconnect the electrical connector and coolant hoses from the throttle body, being careful to prevent coolant leakage. Remove the throttle body and discard the old gasket, replacing it with a new one. Install the throttle body, ensuring the fasteners are tightened to the correct torque. Check the coolant level and add more if needed. To perform the throttle valve closed position relearn procedure, make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released and turn the ignition switch to ON. Then, turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for at least 10 seconds, listening for the sound of the solenoid motor operating. For the idle air volume relearn procedure, ensure that specific conditions are met, such as battery voltage, engine coolant temperature, and the vehicle being stationary. Perform the accelerator pedal release position relearn procedure, followed by the throttle valve closed position relearn procedure. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for at least 10 seconds. Verify that the accelerator pedal is fully released, then turn the ignition switch to ON and wait three seconds. Repeat a specific procedure five times within five seconds, fully depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal. After a certain time, fully release the accelerator pedal and start the engine, allowing it to idle for 20 seconds. Rev up the engine and check the idle speed and ignition timing. If the idle air volume relearn procedure is unsuccessful, check for issues such as a fully closed throttle valve, PCV valve operation, or air leaks downstream from the throttle valve. Correct any problems and repeat the idle air volume relearn procedure if necessary.
