All models are specifically designed with a driver's airbag and this is found at the center pad of the steering wheel, a passenger's airbag is found above the glovebox and side airbags in some models found in the front seats while some models are fitted with curtain airbags behind the headlining. The airbag system is put on standby when ignition is on with a back up power source to support the system's function during power serge. Activation is made possible through a deceleration sensor and an ECU while the inflation is conducted via a gas generator. Precautions which can be considered as general are not disconnecting battery while engine is on, not working with airbag components before some system is turned off, using test equipment on airbag circuits is prohibited and if airbag warning light is on, one must consult the Nissan dealer. One must hold and transport an airbag with the bag upward and close to the body, and it has restrictions on storage, which recommends standing the airbag upright in a cool, flame-free area. The air bag system has to be turned off when working on the components, and the procedures include headlights of the air bag turn on, steering wheel locked, the key must be taken out, the terminal of the battery must be untightened, and one must wait for at least ten minutes. In order to bring back the system after work, then make sure that there is no occupant and other moveable objects within the path of the airbag, reconnect the battery and turn on the car's engine to check the airbag warning light, if it does not come on then one is advised to consult a Nissan dealer.
