Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir and about two-thirds of the fluid. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, block the wheels at the opposite end, and remove the wheels. Inspect the brake disc and if machining is necessary, follow the information to remove the disc and pads. Wash the brake thoroughly with brake system cleaner and allow it to dry, then use a C-clamp to depress the pistons into the caliper before removing the caliper and pads. Unscrew the lower caliper mounting bolt and pivot the caliper up for access to the brake pads, remove the inner and outer brake pads, remove the lower slide pin from the caliper mounting bracket, remove the upper and lower pad retainers, apply anti-squeal compound to the back of both pads, then remove the shims from the old pads and install them on the new ones. Install the upper and lower pad retainers, inner and outer brake pads, clean the slide pin and inspect it for scoring and corrosion, coat the pin with high-temperature grease and install it in the mounting bracket, swing the caliper down over the pads, install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the torque. When reinstalling the caliper, be sure to tighten the mounting bolt to the torque, then firmly depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the pads into contact with the disc. Check the level of the brake fluid, adding some if necessary, and check the operation of the brakes carefully before placing the vehicle into normal service.
