    Q:
How to replace the front and rear Brake Pad Set, including caliper disassembly, pad installation, and brake fluid management on Nissan Sentra? Posted by Customer
    A:
This procedure applies to front and rear disc brakes. Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. Loosen the front or rear wheel lug nuts, raise the front or rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Block the wheels at the opposite end. Remove the wheels. Work on one brake assembly at a time, using the assembled brake for reference if necessary. Inspect the brake disc carefully. If machining is necessary, follow the information to remove the disc. Push the piston back into its bore to provide room for the new brake pads. A C-clamp can be used to accomplish this. As the piston is depressed to the bottom of the caliper bore, the fluid in the master cylinder will rise. Make sure that it doesn't overflow. If necessary, siphon off some of the fluid. Before disassembling the brake, wash it thoroughly with brake system cleaner and allow it to dry. Position a drain pan under the brake to catch the residue. DO NOT use compressed air to blow off brake dust! Remove the caliper lower mounting bolt; don't remove the brake hose banjo bolt unless the caliper or hose requires service! Pivot the caliper up and secure it in that position with a piece of wire. Remove the inner brake pad. Remove the outer brake pad. Remove the lower pad retainer. Remove the upper pad retainer. Pull the caliper upper slide pin out of the mounting bracket, then clean it and lubricate it with high-temperature brake grease. Also remove the lower slide pin, clean it, lubricate it with high-temperature brake grease, then reinstall it. Install the pad retainers. Install the shim (or shim and shim cover) on the pads. Apply anti-squeal compound to the back of both pads. Install the inner brake pad and shim, making sure the wear indicator is positioned correctly. Install the outer brake pad. Note how the wear indicator and spring are oriented. Swing the caliper down, install the caliper mounting bolt and tighten it. When reinstalling the caliper, tighten the mounting bolts. Tighten the wheel lug nuts. After the job has been completed, firmly depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the pads into contact with the disc. Check the level of the brake fluid, adding some if necessary. Check the operation of the brakes carefully before placing the vehicle into normal service.

    Q:
How to replace the brake pad set and ensure proper brake function on Nissan Versa? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir, then loosen the front or rear wheel lug nuts and raise the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands while blocking the wheels at the opposite end. Remove the wheels and work on one brake assembly at a time, using the assembled brake for reference if needed. Inspect the brake disc carefully, and if machining is necessary, follow the appropriate steps to remove the disc. Push the piston back into its bore to create space for the new brake pads, using a C-clamp for this task, except for rear calipers with an Electric Parking Brake. As the piston is depressed, ensure that the fluid in the master cylinder does not overflow, siphoning off some if necessary. Wash the brake thoroughly with brake system cleaner and allow it to dry, positioning a drain pan underneath to catch any residue. Remove the caliper lower mounting bolt without detaching the brake hose banjo bolt unless servicing is required. Pivot the caliper up and secure it with a piece of wire. For 2009 and later models, remove the pad retraction spring(s) as applicable. Remove the inner and outer brake pads, along with the lower and upper pad retainers. Clean and lubricate the caliper slide pins with high-temperature brake grease before reinstalling them. Install the pad retainers and shim, applying anti-squeal compound to the back of both pads and allowing it to set before installation. Install the inner brake pad and shim, ensuring the wear indicator is correctly positioned, followed by the outer brake pad, noting the orientation of the wear indicator and spring. For 2009 and later models, install the pad retraction spring(s) and then swing the caliper down, tightening the caliper mounting bolt to the specified torque. When reinstalling the caliper, ensure the mounting bolts and wheel lug nuts are tightened to the correct torque. After completing the job, firmly depress the brake pedal several times to bring the pads into contact with the disc, check the brake fluid level and add if necessary, and carefully check the operation of the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.
