Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, using a large syringe or suction gun, suck as much fluid out of the power steering fluid reservoir as possible, remove the air filter housing, remove the drivebelt, remove the cooling fans (not necessary on 2007 and later G35 models), position a drain pan under the power steering pump, then disconnect the pressure line and the supply hose, plug the openings to prevent excessive fluid loss and the entry of contaminants, remove the pump mounting bolts, lift the pump from the engine compartment, being careful not to let any power steering fluid drip on the vehicle's paint, installation is the reverse of removal, be sure to tighten all fasteners securely, use new copper gaskets on the pressure line fitting, fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the system following the procedure described, re-check the power steering fluid level.
