Put the parking brake on. Lift the car, put jackstands under it, support it, then block the wheels that aren't lifted. Take off the wheel, then look closely at the housing that holds the bearings to find damage or too much rust; this housing has permanent oil in it and will never need any adjustments. Twist the whole wheel assembly carefully, pick up any whispers of abnormal sounds and identify any unevenness during this process. Check if the bearing slides or wobbles when you move it in different spots or tilt it on the assembly, and if there's abnormal noise, you need a new one. On Titan models, the rear wheel bearings are installed directly onto the outer ends of the axle housing unit. Take out both wheels and shift to Neutral in the transmission. Keep the car securely lifted, and block the two front wheels to stop any movement. Check the rear wheel bearings by feeling for any strange noises when moving the axle back and forth and making sure you cannot move the axle when trying to rotate it without extra force. To replace the axle bearings, we need to carefully remove them from their position on the axle, and push on new ones.
