It is also important to set the wheel bearing preload after the wheel bearings have been either removed and replaced or the front axle assembled. Currently in the 1989-92 240SX there is only one wheel bearing that goes in the hub and it does not have an adjusting cap. Start by lifting and properly supporting the car next, detach the front wheels along with brake caliper ensuring that the brake hoses are safe. Using another thin tool more time and effort could be utilized in prying off the center hub cap, should this be helpful a soft hammer would suffice. Regarding the adjusting cap and the wheel bearing lock nut, pry out the cotter pin as well. Remove the wheel hub with the disc brake rotor from the spindle and pull out the outer bearing from the hub then follow it by the inner bearing and a grease seal using the long brass drift pin or one that will fit nicely on the hub hole. If replacing the bearing outer races, use a brass drift pin and mallet to drive out those bearing outer races. Place the outer bearing race until it is flush with the hub, and then fill up the bearing completely with high-temperature wheel bearing grease. Again, ensure that the hub and hub cap be packed with the recommended grease up to the area marked as shaded. Subsequently, place the inner bearing and the grease seal on the hub, and then place wheel hub with the disc brake rotor over the spindle. The outer wheel bearing, lock washer, wheel bearing lock nut, adjusting cap, new cotter pin, O-ring, and dust is then fitted and the cotter pin is spread, an O-ring installed, before fitting in the dust cap. Lastly, replace the brake caliper assemblies, if the brake fluid was loss, bleed the vehicle's brake system, and refit the front wheels.
