Nissan 13028-53F02 Chain-Timing

Additional steps include disconnecting the negative battery cable, setting the No. 1 piston at TDC of the compression stroke, and removing the front cover. Define timing marks if necessary, hold the camshaft sprocket stationary, and remove the camshaft sprocket bolt. Remove the chain tensioner and guides, followed by the timing chain. Remove the sprocket oil slinger, oil pump drive gear, and crankshaft gear. During installation, put the crankshaft sprocket, oil pump drive gear, and oil slinger onto the end of the crankshaft with timing marks facing forward. Install the camshaft sprocket, bolt, and washer with the alignment mark facing forward and torque the bolt enough to hold the sprocket in place. Verify that the No. 1 piston is at TDC, align the timing chain marks with the sprockets, and torque the camshaft sprocket bolt. Install the chain tensioner, chain guide, front cover, and reconnect the negative battery cable.
